Hitting The Ground Running (Or Hobbling)

Yesterday my wife and I completed the Portland Half Marathon.  By the end we were soaked, exhausted, and sore. It was hard, but completely worth it. It was a representation of how far we’ve both come.

So tonight, I signed us up for the full marathon for 2011.  I’ll use this blog to chronicle my progress in the year leading up to the 2011 Portland Marathon. This will include updates on my training, reviews on products and books I find interesting and helpful, and maybe some guest blogs on diet & nutrition (by my lovely wife). I would like to use this blog as a way to keep track of what helps me on the road to health and fitness, and will hopefully, provide some information that will prove useful to others.

A little background information on me:

I am 31, and live in Portland, Oregon. I was recently diagnosed as being Diabetic. I currently control my diabetes with diet and exercise.  I’ve spent the last two years really focusing on fitness and weight loss. I follow the Weight Watchers program, and do a variety of exercise, that includes running, weight training, and Krav Maga. As I said, I’ve spent the last two years getting healthy, but I still have a long way to go. My goal, is that by this time next year, I will be at my goal weight, and will have just finished my first marathon. I know with hard work that I can attain this goal.
